An organization is an entity that exists within your instance of Grafana. If you have already grouped some users into a team, then you can synchronize that team with an external group. Currently the synchronization only happens when a user logs in, unless LDAP is used with the active background synchronization that was added in Grafana 6.3. Thanks to the adaptability of GitHub Projects, we finally have one ‘source-of-truth’ to reference normal issues, big issues, and escalations.

Correlate your data
After a year of using GitHub Projects, we have seen its ability to handle our different types of issues and to adapt to the needs of our various teams at Grafana Labs. We find GitHub Projects to be a flexible planning and tracking solution that enables engineers to stay focussed on code and gives issues more visibility. GitHub Projects keeps the burden for contributors low whilst still providing the views managers need to understand and plan team efforts. GitHub Projects is the only tool the Grafana Alerting team needs to do project planning. Whilst we use a private repository for issues relating to our operational work, we use the same labels in all our alerting-related repositories so that we can use project filters easily.
Team Administrators can add members to a team and update its settings, such as the team name, team member’s team roles, UI preferences, and home dashboard. By using folders and teams, you avoid having to manage permissions for individual users. By default, when you create a folder, all users with the Viewer role are granted permission to view the folder. You’ll create two folders, Analytics and Application, where each team can add their own dashboards.
How the GitHub Docs team uses GitHub Projects
Supporting each other, our users, and our customers is a priority and core part of what we do. We pitch in where needed and do what it takes to get things done, even if it isn’t necessarily our job to do so. Data Modeling in the Modern Data Stack
For example, you might want a certain viewer to be able to edit a dashboard. While that user can see all dashboards, you can grant them access to update only one of them. By default, users and user groups that are assigned access to Grafana have viewer permission. You must explicitly elevate the respective users’ and user groups’ permission to admin or editor roles. Data source plugins hook into existing data sources via APIs and render the data in real time without requiring you to migrate or ingest your data. Organization role-based permissions are global, which means that each permission level applies to all Grafana resources within an given organization.
